June is designated Rotary Fellowships Month to recognize the importance of international fellowship and goodwill among Rotarians with similar recreational and vocational interests, promote increased participation in fellowships, and increase understanding of this program.
As a member of the Rotary Fellowship of Musicians I had the privilege of singing with Rotarians from around the world at the RI Convention in Los Angeles.
The LGBT Rotarians and Friends Fellowship connects members of the Rotary Family and works to build an organisation that is welcoming to members of the LGBT+ community. We work to connect members in friendship, educate clubs to be more inclusive and build a catalogue of service projects that support the LGBT+ community.
The Fellowship is also available as an LGBT+ advisory group, contributing to and consulting on practices to be an inclusive club, policy development and projects of significance to the LGBT+ community. Contact us for advice.
Rotary has identified a theme for each month except July. July is the first month of the Rotary year and is when the annual theme kicks in.
Mehta: serving others changes lives
Incoming RI President Shekhar Mehta, a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar, West Bengal, India, revealed the 2021-22 presidential theme, Serve to Change Lives, at this week’s virtual Rotary International Assembly. He urged district governors-elect to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.
