Rotary San Jose East/Evergreen club President Charlie Wasser will be discussing what it takes to locate and recruit new Rotarians. The questions rto be answered are (1) From where do Rotarians come? (2) What is the best way to recruit them? (3) Why do we want to grow a Rotary club? 

Charlie has been a Rotarian since 2004. He has held several club and district positions as follows:

Mr. Robert Yabes is a Department of Justice fully accredited representative and the Program Director of Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services. He holds a master’s degree in Philosophy, and has received numerous training on immigration law, immigration program management, and immigrant leadership. Before taking the role as program director, he has represented hundreds of clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Service and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. His nonprofit experience in immigration legal services covers more than 20 years. He does program planning, and works collaboratively with immigration legal services and other community-based organization on issues facing immigrants.

Bio:
Lead Founder and proposed Executive Director of Perseverance Preparatory School, Ms. LeeNatali began working with high school students at Downtown College Preparatory School on the Alameda, then joined Teach For America and taught at Cornerstone Academy Preparatory School (“Cornerstone”) in the Franklin-McKinley School District. Cornerstone, a 2014 California Distinguished School located within the boundaries of San Jose, was also founded by a Fellow with Building Excellent Schools. At Cornerstone, Ms. LeeNatali taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grades, piloted a leadership curriculum based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, served on the school’s Hiring Committee, and contributed as Master Teacher for the pilot Teacher Residency Program. Bringing a deep commitment to the students and families of San Jose and a regional as well as national network of training and support from Building Excellent Schools, Ms. LeeNatali earned a BA in Law and Social Justice, as well as a BS in Psychology, and Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials from Loyola Marymount University.

Ms LeeNatali will discuss Perseverance Preparatory School, a 5th-8th grade school for the underserved students of San Jose. Perseverance Prep educates students through rigorous academics, targeted instruction, and service learning for a life of ethical leadership and scholarly success.

Bio: 
Katia Gomez was awarded a District Scholarship in 2011 to complete her Master's Degree in Global Health at Boston University. Since then she has opened eight schools across Honduras through her nonprofit Educate2Envision and been awarded Top US Changemaker under 25 by Do Something.org, 25 Women in the World to Watch under 25 by Newsweek, and Top 12 Young Entrepreneurs Doing Good by Forbes. She currently serves as a Fellow for both Ashoka and Cordes Foundation, that honor entrepreneurs with innovative solutions to tackling global poverty. 

Talk:
Limited access to schooling beyond sixth grade for the world's poorest countries is our generation's biggest challenge to achieving universal education. Katia will share her insights from several years of experience working in rural Honduras and the pathway her organization has created to transforming out-of-school youth into community leaders.

Coach Shaw, comes from a great family with two great parents father was a police officer for over 23 years, mother work for NASA for 10 years.

A graduate of San Jose College majored in communication with a minor in business. He has been involved in Youth Sports since 1976 in the San Jose California area. Married for 28 years with 5 kids one set of twins graduating from high school this year from S.T. High School in San Jose. His daughter is going to University of Arizona, and his son is going to the College of Grand Canyon University, his oldest son has graduated from college last year with a degree in Computer Graphics

Have been voted High School Coach of the Year, CYO coach of the year voted 2005 All-Star coach for the San Jose Evergreen Valley Chapter  NJB,  received awards from the state of Texas,  given the key to the state of Texas,  voted coach of the Youth Athletic program in the state of Texas. 

Coach will talk about youth sports, youth academics, youth lives socially with respect to community involvement.
