(San Jose, Calif.) — Following a months-long, nation-wide search, Keith Aytch has been named president of Evergreen Valley College (EVC). Aytch, who has served as interim president at EVC since July 2017 and vice president of academic affairs at the College since 2011, was approved by a unanimous vote of the San José – Evergreen Community College District (SJECCD) board of trustees during its April 24 meeting.
"President Aytch has been committed to Evergreen Valley College and the community we serve since he was hired as an instructor at the College 25 years ago," said SJECCD Chancellor Dr. Debbie Budd. "EVC has a strong history and a bright future that will only be made brighter through Keith's visionary leadership, expertise, and experience."

In addition to serving as interim president and vice president of academic affairs, Aytch has also held the positions of dean of language arts, dean of library and learning resources, and English literature and composition instructor at EVC, where he has worked since 1993.

"I am thrilled to have been chosen as Evergreen Valley College's next president and thankful to the board of trustees and Chancellor Budd for their confidence in me," Aytch said. "It will be an honor and a privilege to continue to serve in this capacity alongside my colleagues on the faculty and staff as we move the College forward in service of our students and community."

Aytch holds a Master of Arts in English from California State University, Sacramento; a Bachelor of Arts in English, also from CSU Sacramento; and a K-12 administrative credential from National University. He is a regular presenter at statewide and national conferences and was recently inducted into the Silicon Valley Black Legends Hall of Fame, in recognition of his decades of service in education.

"Centered on student success and equity, President Aytch has been a catalyst for change," said SJECCD Board of Trustees President Mayra Cruz. "The Board of Trustees is proud he has been selected to lead Evergreen Valley College. He is committed to quality education and growing the College by increasing the community partnerships needed to meet each student's aspirations."

Aytch was selected from a strong pool of qualified applicants following a nation-wide search. He succeeds Henry Yong, who accepted a position as chancellor of Yosemite Community College District in July 2017 after serving as president of EVC for six years.
