Visioning - Part Two

Moving Ahead with a Plan!

On Thursday, November 15 we will have a Club Assembly to view the results of our club's District 570's Visioning exercise capably led by Greg Bogdanoff, Arley Marley and Linda Price.

Ten club members met with the District team for almost four hours on Saturday morning, October 27 and brain-stormed ideas for a vision of how our club will look in five years. Greg, Aarley and Linda worked as our scribes and helped us narrow the focus of the scores of ideas we came up with, to those that were the most meaningful for the majority of us.

Come and share in the Vision - the next steps will start with the development of a Strategic Plan led by P Sara Calkins, PE Harbinder Sikka and PP Robbie Izat. Richard Dorsay has agreed to Champion the process and make sure we get on and stay on track!

2018 Elections!

Congratulations go to club members Kansen Chu, Assembly District 25 and Van Thi Le, East Side Union High School District Board of Trustees for their successful re-election campaigns! Congratulations  also, go to Ash Kalra, who serves California Assembly District 27 where he also had a successful re-election campaign. All three of these fine public servants serve as examples of Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self" and we are very proud to count them among our friends and supporters.

November is The Rotary Foundation Month

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Our mission

The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

Why should I donate to The Rotary Foundation?

Your donation makes a difference to those who need our help most. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world.

How does The Rotary Foundation use donations?

Our 35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects that support our six causes. With donations like yours, we’ve wiped out 99.9 percent of all polio cases. Your donation also trains future peacemakers, supports clean water, and strengthens local economies.

What impact can one donation have?

It can save a life. A child can be protected from polio with as little as 60 cents. Our partners make your donation go even further. For every $1 Rotary commits to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $2.

Vocational Project - Off and Running!

Wednesday, September 26, 2018

“For the first time in its 52-year history the Rotary Club of San Jose East/Evergreen is focused on creating an annual self-driving race car (SDRC) competition for high school students.

Championed by president-elect Harbinder Sikka, our club brought cutting-edge autonomous vehicle high technology to students in the East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD). The majority of ESUHSD students belong to an economically disadvantaged family and represent demographics under-represented in the technology workforce. This initiative will provide exposure to career options in high technology. Students will utilize this new technology in a fun and engaging manner through a self-driving race car competition.

Our club, with funding assistance from the San Jose East Endowment Fund, donated six SDRC kits to Silver Creek High School. Through the diligent efforts of Harbinder Sikka and our past president, Nick Leon and Silver Creek High School adviser Mr. Imani Butler, the Silver Creek SDRC club had 24 students sign-up within the first two weeks. The club meets every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. President-Elect Harbinder Sikka will be meeting with Mount Pleasant High School’s club advisers to set up a second club next week.”
