Our club board held a special meeting on Monday, September 13. Research and plans for upcoming events were the focus of the meeting. After investigating a professionally run bingo game fundraiser, Binta, Manjeet and Marisa decided that it was best to work up incrementally to that big of a fundraiser. To begin, they're coordinated with members of RC San Jose Silicon Valley to co-host a Bingo Game on ZOOM on Friday, October 22, 2021. This will be a fundraiser for two causes: Free Meals on Wheels (SJE/E) and Operation Care and Comfort (SJSV). Binta has made a flyer with all the information to send to club members to send to everyone they know! It will also be posted on our club website and FaceBook page. As stated on the flyer all ticket purchases will be through the SJSV club treasurer Brian Bianco. The board approved going forward with this event. How you can help? Participate and get your friends and relatives on board too! Crab Feed - New Location! Because using the Yacht Club in Alviso limits us to 100 guests, Marianne, Nick and Robbie investigated a larger venue. They proposed using The Flames Restaurant on 4th St in downtown San Jose; its banquet room can accommodate 200 guests seated at round tables giving us an opportunity to increase the amount we raise for club projects substantially. Costs for the room and crab will be more but tickets prices will only go up $5 to $70 each. The key to making this change a success depends entirely on all members selling tickets, supplying donated auction items and helping out on the day of the event. The proposed date is Saturday, December 4, 2021, to be confirmed. The board approved going forward with the new location.
